Bailey Jayne - 2 Weeks Old

When they say that time flies when you're having fun, they definitely mean it. We cannot believe that Bailey is already 2 weeks old! And she is already growing and learning so much (besides that she has us both wrapped around her little finger).

This week Bailey went on her first long road trip to meet her future BFF, Dylan's parents Nicole (Happy Birthday) and Alex so they could get a taste of what's to come. We can't wait until Miss Dylan makes her arrival. Then she got to visit with Ally and Dana who brought over lots of yummy food and she got a lot of good snuggle time with them both. We also had our follow up doctor's visit to see if Bailey was getting back to her birth weight, she was down to 7lbs 2oz at our first check up so we needed to get her close to the 7lbs 14oz at birth. Mom was a little nervous at first to see if we could make it there and when the scale hit 8lbs 1oz, we were in shock and the nurses all came over to congratulate us and give us a high five! Apparently it is quite an accomplishment when you gain 15oz in 6 days...all those cluster feedings definitely worked!

Sunday was our first Mother's Day and we spent the morning having brunch with Grandma before the day got a little crazy. Mom had been feeling really ill the last couple of days and took a turn for the worse that afternoon. With thoughts of the flu, we called our doctor and they had us go straight to the ER for tests and observations. Luckily Miss Bailey got to spend lots of quality time with Grandma and Grandpa Reifschneider while Dad rushed Mom to the ER. After lots of fluids, labs and several hours of monitoring they decided it wasn't the flu, rather it was a really bad infection caused by the catheter Mom had during delivery. Even though they wanted to keep her overnight, Mom couldn't stay away from Bailey for too long so they came home and Mom has been on bed rest ever since. We are hoping the medicine and the rest will start to get Mom back on her feet soon, but it's been a longer recovery than we had hoped. Thank you to all our friends and family for reaching out with lots of well wishes. It sure made for an exciting first Mother's Day!

This week Bailey has started to hold her head up on her own, make funny faces, start to crack a smile, snuggle even closer, had her first full bath, took our first professional photos, her first financial planning meeting, cheer for the Royals and get into numerous shenanigans with Dad (while Mom was stuck in bed). Take a look at our week in pictures:

Super sleepy princess
Shenanigans with Dad started when he decided to spike up her hair with gel just like his...let's just say Mom wasn't totally on board with this decision.

Happy 2 Weeks
Thanks for joining us on this journey with Sweet Bailey Jane, it's been quite an adventure so far and each day brings more joy and fun in our lives. We are sad that Daddy had to go back to work already but we really enjoyed all the extra time we had with him over these last few weeks. We'll be posting more pics soon, so stay tuned...

XOXO,

Sara, Brian, Bailey & Tequila

And don't think Tequila's not getting any attention...he's still as spoiled as ever!

Bailey Jayne - 1 Week Old

We can't believe it's already been a week since Bailey first entered our lives! And a busy week it has been. We've been shopping to Mom's favorite store (Home Goods), stopped at a few garage sales, had our first doctor's appointment, watched the Kentucky Derby, had a couple visitors to the house, met most of our neighbors, had our first visit at Grandma and Grandpa's house and have gone on walks every day.

Here are a few pics from Bailey's first week:

Our Jayhawk Princess

Aced our first doctor's appointment
Learned to almost smile
All ready for the Run for the Roses
Probably one of our favorite things to do is take naps with our daddy...we can get really comfortable no matter what position we're in.

The Superman
The King of the World
The Snuggler
We've had a lot of people say that Bailey looks a lot like Brian so we wanted to dig up some old baby photos to see how close the resemblance is. Both Grandmas found pictures of Mom and Dad when they were newborns and we'll let the photos below decide.

Mom when she was still in the hospital

Dad in his first few days
A little side by side comparison

We definitely all have our favorite pose
It's been fun looking back at some of the old photos and we'll have to see if her hair lightens like Mom's did or stays dark like Dad. Either way, we enjoy watching her grow and see her personality start to form.

We'll have more pics to share over the next couple of weeks. Until then...Go Royals!

XOXO,

Sara, Brian, Bailey and Tequila

Meet Bailey Jayne Schorr

Introducing Bailey Jayne Schorr
They say April Showers bring May Flowers but our sweet bloom arrived a little early and our family got a whole lot sweeter on Tuesday, April 28th as we welcomed Bailey Jayne Schorr to the world. Weighing 7lbs. 14oz. and measuring in at 20-3/4", Bailey made her debut at 6:55 pm (in the middle of a Royal's win!) and filled our lives with sweetness and sass right from the start. Here is a sneak peek into Bailey's first few days with us and we promise there will be many more pictures to come!

Warning: There are a lot of pictures, mostly for the new Grandparents :)

Then Bella Baby stopped in our room to take a few snaps of her first day and some of the pictures were just too cute not to share:

Before we knew it our time at the hospital had come to an end but we couldn't leave without a little drama...right before walking out the door everything shut down for a fire drill that lasted for quite a while. She was cool as a cucumber and it gave Mom a little time for some paparazzi shots:

Up close and personal
All dressed up ready to leave
We finally got home on Thursday afternoon and Grandma, Tequila and Callie greeted us at the door. Both pups were very interested and very sweet. Then we went on our first walk so everyone was super happy!

The sweet life
Bailey is one lucky little lady and we are so blessed to have such amazing parents - now officially upgraded to their new role as Grandparents. Words cannot describe how much they mean to us and how much love and wisdom they have bestowed on us through the years. Their help over these past few days has been invaluable and we know that little Bailey will be loved and spoiled for many years to come! We love you and can't wait to share many more memories!

We want to thank all of our family and friends that have reached out over the past few days with all the well wishes and sweet notes. Bailey is looking forward to reaching her social butterfly status and meeting all of you.

We also wouldn't be where we are today without an amazing medical team. Dr. Bavishi and the staff at Midwest Perinatal were wonderful to work with these last 9 months and everyone at The Birth Place at Olathe Medical Center went above and beyond to make our stay as easy as possible and we are so thankful for everything they have done.

We'll be posting more of Bailey's journey so feel free to check back in for more updates. Love to all of you!

XOXO,

Sara, Brian, Bailey and Tequila
