Sienna Rose - One Month

Happy early Mother's Day weekend to all you Mommy's out there! And what a better way to celebrate this weekend than with our one month old and her big two year old sister. Yes, you read that right...Sienna is already one month old today!

Sienna Rose - 1 Month Old
Sienna's one month check up isn't until Monday,  weighing her in at 9 lbs 14 oz and measuring in at 22-1/2" . Our doc appointment will be our first big test for Mom as she'll be solo while baby girl gets shots and big sis Bailey hopefully isn't running around the office. Sienna is getting more alert and active everyday. She loves working on her neck muscles during tummy time on Mommy and in her favorite Solly wrap, watching her sister run circles around her and avoiding the over-enthusiastic lovings from her big sis (think Elmyra), having fun convos with Daddy, going on walks and to the park with Bubba, finding new ways to avoid naps in anything not resembling Mommy or Daddy's arms (thank heavens for baby wearing), kicking off the blankets, pushing off and trying to stand up in Mommy's hands and lots of snuggles with Mommy and Daddy. She is a sweet, happy and curious little girl and we love you so much!

We want to wish all the wonderful Mother's out there a wonderful Mother's Day! We are so blessed to have Gigi (otherwise known as the "Guhg" or "GuhGuh" - depending on the day), Grandma Schorr, Great Grandma Mona and Granny in our lives. Bailey and Sienna love it when Grandma Schorr and Granny come up so Miss Bailey can show off all her favorite outfits, read tons of books and play in her tent and Sienna loves all the extra cuddles. We love you guys and can't wait to see you both again! And Guhg...where do we even begin? Thank you for the countless hours and endless patience and energy you have spent playing with Miss Bailey while we waited for Miss Sienna to arrive and for the many times I was out of commission during this rather challenging pregnancy. Thank you for coming over to have a slumber party with Miss Bailey while we were in the hospital and for fighting through the lack of sleep and stomach flu to give her the attention and care she needed through the biggest change in her life. Thank you for always being there for the last minute (often panicked) hospital, chiropractor and urgent care trips for not only me but most recently my 3-Fingered McGee (more on that story below). Thank you for the laughs, the talks off the ledge, the friendship and the endless wisdom you bestow...whether on purpose or by accident. Thank you for the time you spend with us each week...our treasure hunts are some of my favorite moments of the week. Thank you for always being there for me and for loving me through the good times and the difficult times...you were my first and best friend. And most of all, thank you for loving my girls (and son) as much as I do...I love watching the way they light up when they see you and the understanding that you are there for them always...that is the biggest gift you can give. We love you, Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day Guhg!
Happy Mother's Day Granny

Happy Mother's Day Grandma!

Side note: In the spirit of Mother's Day and for future blog posts I am going to try something new. I recently read an article about how a daughter lost her mother and in looking back at old photos, she found very few photos of her and her mom when she was younger and it made her really sad. To an outsider it looked as though her mother wasn't ever there, even though she was with them all the time. She reflected on her own photos of her children and realized she was in very few photos because a)she was the one behind the lens capturing all the memories, b)was very self-critical of how she looked and didn't want anyone to see her not at her best and c)never had anyone take it upon themselves to take candid shots of her with her children. This struck a nerve with me and I don't want my girls to look back and think that they're Mom wasn't a big part of their lives in the beginning. I have always taken selfies with my girls because a) I am typically the only one with them and a camera and try to capture some of our fun moments and b) I'm a control freak that doesn't want to share a terrible photo. But that is going to change from now on...I'm going to embrace the moment and encourage others to capture candid moments and not hide photos of great memories just because I don't love the way I look. So bare with me and don't judge too harshly...I'm a work in progress.Back to your regularly scheduled blog...

We're going to start off with some of our favorite pics of Miss Sienna. Her hair is already starting to lighten up and those blue eyes keep getting bluer. She is the perfect addition to our family and we cannot imagine our life without her sweet face.

This week brought a bit of sadness as Daddy had to go back to work on Thursday. But we were definitely blessed with the 4 weeks of fun that he had off to spend with his girls. We packed a lot of memories into those 4 weeks and luckily we have him for the entire weekend to ourselves!

Ultimate pampering...getting our back rubbed while playing our favorite Moana songs

She has a lot to say to her Daddy
Could there be anything more fun than sisters? Not likely! Sienna absolutely adores her big sis Bailey and really loves all the snuggles and kisses. She can't wait for Bailey to teach her all new things. Watching Bailey as a big sister is completely precious...she is a great big sister, even though the transition has been tough at times, overall she has been very sweet and we are working on being gentle all the time with baby Sienna. Bailey loves to show off her sister and hold her as often as she can.

"Hugs"

Last weekend Sienna attended her first big party...for her big sissy Bailey. Since Moana is our favorite movie, we had to of course celebrate luau-style! We had a lot of fun decorating, learning to hula and get all the food and "cakes" made. We did have a pretty major incident kick off the day...Daddy got up extra early to get the Hawaiian Pulled Pork started and within 5 minutes had to wake Mom up missing portions of a few digits. Thanks to an awfully sharp mandolin we had to call Gigi to rush him to the 24-hour Urgent Care because we couldn't stop the bleeding. It was a little too much excitement to kick off the morning, but luckily they were able to get the bleeding to stop at the Urgent Care and Brian can officially say he is a partial double-amputee (that is the classification they give you when you slice off the tops of 2 fingers and can't reattach the tops - we're not going to share pics unless personally requested). It was (and is) super painful but luckily they are starting to heal and the damage isn't as bad as originally thought. While Daddy was at Urgent Care with Gigi, Mom cleaned up and finished getting everything ready with the girls so we were all ready for everyone to arrive. Bailey had so much fun with all her friends...they danced, played in the pool, ran around the house yelling and cheered on the Derby horses. Bailey loved showing off Sienna and her new basement and Sienna loved all the extra cuddles. We had so much fun we only got a few pics of the actual party. Thanks to everyone for making it such a special day!

We decided to spend one of Daddy's last days off with some fun at the Farmstead and asked Gigi and Uncle Mat to come along. It was a beautiful day filled with animals, fun and our favorite...the hayride! We even got to meet a 4 day old calf!

Slushies

Having fun is exhausting

Animals are so fun
We love to be outside and if the weather cooperates, we make sure to be out as long as we can. Bailey loves to show Sienna her favorite parks and Sienna loves looking at all the different colors and feel all the different textures. We've even set up our backyard to be a wet and wild oasis...this summer is sure to be fun!

Learning how to ride our new bike

How 90% of our photos start...trying to take a pic and she starts licking my face...silly girl

She loves to grab chins

Sienna loves to watch Bailey at Wiggles and Giggle and can't wait until she can join in on the fun. Bailey loves spending time with her friend Ellie and dancing with Miss Holly.

Wanting to get in on the action

Tequila is officially outnumbered...but don't let some of those sad looks fool you, he loves his baby girls. He is very protective over both girls and loves to let them walk him to the park or watch him run around at our favorite dog park. He is very patient with Bailey and extra sweet with Sienna and both girls adore him...Sienna loves to watch him bark like crazy in the back of the car. I love watching him peek in at her in the rock n' play...I think he really likes that she can't crawl around yet (or attempt to ride him like a pony).

Who doesn't love newborn snuggles? We could snuggle all day...except we have a rowdy 2 year old that can't sit still for very long. Both our girls aren't fond of naps...unless they're laying on top of us (again...baby wearing for the win!) On the rare occasions we catch them snoozing, we have to make sure to capture the sweetness. Oh and to those who say, sleep when your babies sleep...ha...that would require them to sleep at the same time. Though it did happen once...the day after Bailey's party and Dad got the photo to prove it (don't mind my awesome passed out sleep face).

Nothing like passing out a half hour before your party starts...busted

We are having too much fun with both of our girls. It can be extremely exhausting and trying at times, but we wouldn't trade it for the world. Here are a few more of our favorite pics from the past week:

Sienna we love you so much and can't believe you've been brightening our lives for a month already. We love watching you and your sissy grow and can't wait to create many more memories.

Hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend! We plan on relaxing, enjoying the beautiful weather and spending lots of time with family.

XOXO,
