Sienna Rose - 11 Months Old

Can I really be planning Sienna's 1st Birthday (and Bailey's 3rd) already? I cannot believe our baby is 11 months old today...and this month has gone even faster than the last one!

Sienna Rose - 11 Months Old
Sienna is 18 lbs 2 oz and 28-3/4" tall. No doctor this month, but next month will be her one year check up (it doesn't seem possible!) Poor Sienna started getting a bit of a cold last night so we didn't sleep much but she's smiling through!

Sienna Rose in her favorite chair
Sienna is quite the little daredevil and loves to keep us on our toes. She doesn't understand that she is tiny and shouldn't be jumping off of things or climbing like her big sis does and appears to take after her Uncle Mat as quite the rough and tumble thing (let's just hope she doesn't end up in the ER as many times as he did at her age). She loves to dance and her signature move is one arm up while she twirls and shakes it. She is a pretty smart little cookie and is very good at figuring out puzzles, overcoming obstacles and knowing how to get into things. She loves to help pick up toys, put away dishes and drag clothes around for Bailey (we call her the stylist). She has about 8-10 teeth and more on the way so the poor thing has been having a hard time sleeping and staying comfortable. Her cheeks get super red and blotchy like her Uncle Mat's did when he was little too. She may be small, but she is mighty and likes to show off how fast she can run, the heavy things she can lift and the instructions she understands (even we she chooses to ignore them). She loves going to the park to swing and go down the slide by herself, dig in the dirt and mulch (just like sis) and discover new sights and sounds. She also loves animals, especially her best bud Tequila and loves to give Miss Callie hugs and take her for walks. She loves to read and pull books off the shelf, drag pull toys around the house, play tea party with Bailey, get out all the play food and make dinner at the play kitchen and push buttons to make music. She is super sweet and has recently started giving hugs and open mouth kisses. She loves to track Bailey down to hug her and it is super cute to watch. We love watching her grow everyday and discover new things, she really brings more sunshine to our lives.

Sienna is becoming quite the chatterbox and likes to show off her vocal range whenever she gets the chance. She just started saying "Oooh" and we think it's hilarious. Other than that she is sticking to Mama and Dada right now between the squeaks and giggles.

Twirling and booty shaking...these are the two constants in our household, no matter what time or if there is music involved. Sienna is definitely following in her big sister's footsteps and loves twirling and shaking it. She keeps one arm up while dancing and it's so cute.

Twirly whirly

Can't stop, won't stop

Another activity that we are obsessed with is jumping on the trampoline. She climbs right up and starts jumping, but since she's still a little wobbly on her feet we have to keep our eye on her at all times because she loves to try and jump off. Plus we have tendency not to want to share the trampoline (looks like we'll be pulling out the second one soon). We'll be spending lots of time at Urban Air this year!

Fearless jumper...notice she doesn't prefer the handles

Messy hair, don't care! Sienna's hair has a mind of it's own and does not care what you try to hold it back with...it's going to break free and do it's own thing. We've mastered the "Flock of Seagulls", the "3 Stooges" and "the Beibs". Dad's even been liberal with the gel (behind Mom's back) and somehow it frees itself and makes a little hair magic.

It's mythical

Peek-a-boo
Sienna has such a sweet demeanor but there is definitely a lot of sass that she has no problem sharing with us. She's also mastering the art of the tantrum and makes sure that to do a full one she has plenty of room to throw herself completely back and let her full voice be heard (sorry to my Mom as I now know how you felt all those years ago). Luckily she is quick to smile and share a few giggles. We love watching her personality shine and shape each month.

Reasons why my child is crying: Bailey went into dance class with her dance bag...Mom win: extra bag in the car (5 second differential)

Girl, what are you doing?
We've definitely got a growing girl on our hands and girl loves to eat. She is a little vacuum and will eat any and everything...even though it doesn't show (must be all the dancing, running and jumping).

The bond that these girls share is amazing to watch as a bystander...the switch can flip at anytime, but the love they share is so sweet, it melts my heart. Bailey is such a good big sis and Sienna looks up to her so much. I love all their shenanigans and sneaking peeks at them playing together nicely when they don't think I'm watching. From dress up and tea parties, to digging in the dirt at the park, these girls have each others back and love spending time together...boys beware!

Rock chalk Jayhawk! Congrats to our Jayhawks for not only winning the Big XII Championship Tournament but for the...wait for it...14th Straight Big XII Championship! Our girls are both big fans of the Crimson and Blue and Bailey loves to shout out Rock Chalk Jayhawk to everyone she meets! We want to wish our boys good luck in the tournament, we've got our brackets ready for our family challenge...let the March Maddness begin!

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays and I love sharing it with the girls. This year we made Valentines for the family, visited Daddy at work and delivered Valentines to his coworkers and then went to dance with Princess Crown Valentines for all the ballerinas. The girls had a lot of fun spreading the love, especially Bailey who made sure to say Happy Valentine's Day to everyone she saw (including everyone in every line at Target). The day turned out to be so busy that Mom didn't get much work done and we had to cancel our evening plans so I could work. Thanks to my hubby for being so patient...hopefully we'll be able to make up our date soon!

The Olympics came and went and we really enjoyed watching the snowboarding (Yeah Chloe and Shaun!), figure skating, the Women's US hockey team taking the gold and of course the bob sled! The girls got into the games too and we had to recreate some of favorites, especially since we were iced in for a couple days. Highlight moment - we had a Cool Runnings Day where we watched the moving, decorated our own bobsleds, watched the races and then ran a few races of our own (not to mention the bob sled themed snacks - yes, I'm a little much)...but the best part we caught the eye of Devon Harris, 3x Olympian and the Captain of the Original Jamaican Bobsled team commented on our Instagram video (best day ever!).

Feel the Rhythm

It's spring...ice storm...it's spring...back to winter, well you know you're in KS when you can't predict the weather (or what to wear) from day to day. But when those spring days blow in, we make the most of them and spend as much time outside as we can. We've explored new parks, found a Troll tree and started working on getting the girl's Birthday surprise started (fun photos to come). Sienna is obsessed with going down the slides (by herself of course) and swinging. Bailey loves making new friends and hanging upside down. Sienna and Bailey both love riding their bikes and fun ride on toys...it looks like we will be doing a lot of practicing this spring!

Tutu's and bows, capes and shoes...our dress up game is strong. The real question is, do you call it "playing dress up" when you make it your everyday attire? We are still working on the answer there. But dressing up isn't just for big sis, Sienna has definitely started to let her style shine through. Bailey may try to pick out an outfit, but Miss Sienna tends to have an idea all her own on what she wants to wear. Let the style wars begin! Right now, we are in a bit of a Wonder Woman kick after watching the movie...and the other day when two boys wouldn't let her go up the slide after she asked politely a few times, she told them "I'm Wonder Woman and I'll crush you!" and the boys let her through and she smiled and thanked them (Proud Mama moment).

My little panda
Bailey and her dance class are working really hard to get ready for their recital. At the end of each class they let the parents come in to watch, but it usually turns out to be more chaos with all of the little sisters and just the general disruption so getting a video of them practicing has been quite a challenge. The ones below crack me up because she is in her own little world...this recital should be hilarious.

She seems to do a lot better when Mom isn't in there :)

Just eating an apple and waiting for sis at dance

Such a pretty girl
Speaking of dance, last month we shared pics from Bailey's first Father-Daughter Dance and a week or so later we got the formal pics back. To say this girl is living her best life is an understatement, just look at her one-shining moment with those princesses (Daddy was pretty cool too)!

Her face says it all

Best Daddy ever

Bath time is always a fun time with the Bubble Queens. They love to see how high the bubbles can build up and how much splashing they can get away before getting in trouble. If Bailey is taking a solo bath, you'll find Sienna right there outside the tub splashing with her sis and bringing random things to drop in the tub...like Mom's keys, a couple books, random clothes, toys, etc. Good thing we put that extra cement board in :)

Potty learning has been going really well in our household and we've even tested our limits and had to jump out of a Starbucks drive-thru, had to wait behind a few people in line and ran through a store to make it. I feel like we've earned a parenting badge for this. Bailey is a rock star and we are so proud of her. Sienna really wants to be a part of the process too...your time will come soon little sis!

Oh sweet Bubba, thank you for your endless patience and protection of our girls. I hope this month involves more dog park time that you definitely deserve. The girls love you so much (and so do we) and I hope the extra food they sneak and the sweet cuddles make up for your loss of personal space and nap time.

Just when you think you can't possibly go another night without sleep, you make it another day. We're pretty much running on fumes at this time, but that's why coffee exists. Poor Sienna is having a rough bout with teething and it's really throwing her sleep schedule off. Quite the opposite, Miss Bailey is rocking about 8-10 solid hours of sleep at night in her big girl bed so when it morning comes around, she is ready to go...so there's not a lot of overlap where Mom and Dad can sleep, so do us a favor...don't mention the bags under our eyes and just point us to the nearest caffeine drip.

The fun was too much
