Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

"Time may change me, but you can't trace time. Strange fascination, fascinating me...changes are taking the pace I'm going through" - David Bowie

First we have to say...ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!! Nothing beats punching our Final Four ticket again Roy and his new boys. What a game!!

Kansas: The Birthplace of North Carolina Basketball

It' been a little while since our last post and there have been a few big changes that we are excited to share!  Sara just accepted a new position as the Marketing & Membership Director for the Scaffold and Access Industry Association! It's completely different from anything she's ever done but she is really excited to get started! She'll really miss her clients and her girls at Ruth Burke, but knows that there will be a lot of Barley's nights in their future :)

The SASS girls at RB&A

Sara will be doing a lot of travelling in the next couple months, with stops in Atlanta, Seattle, Vegas and Huntington Beach on the agenda so Tequila is trying to take up as much of her time that he can right now.

What a handsome guy

In the meantime we are continuing to update the sunroom and we just finished painting our side tables and updating the hardware...

The "new" end tables
We did have a slight hiccup today, our toilet started leaking and poor Brian threw out his back doing yard work today. Luckily, Sara's parents came over and after a couple of attempts we successfully fixed the toilet, just in time for Brian's parents to come in town next weekend. We are excited to show them all the improvement's we've done since Thanksgiving.

Hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weekend. Can't wait to watch the Final Four games next weekend.

Rock Chalk!

One Thing at a Time

We added another new part of our sunroom today...a table that my mom and I found, then we sanded and painted. We have to wait to wax it down before we decorate, so stay tuned for more updates.

Before...well with the first coat of primer

After

In it's new place in the sunroom

Even though we're still really sore, it's fun putting all the pieces everything together. And we found that we really like painting furniture. So much so that we already know what's next. We'll keep you updated on our progress.

Can't Please Everyone

Not everyone was as excited about the remodel as we were...Tequila isn't too happy that his old grandpa chairs are gone.

Testing the new bench out

Not too happy about the new arrangement

Still pouting

Wait until he realizes his kennel is going to the basement...

Remodeling the Sun Room - 1 Week Later

After a long and dusty week, our ceiling is finally finished! Not taking any time off, we decided to start working on the next part of our remodeled sun room...our bench seats. With the help of my dad, brother and several different type of saws we got the benches built in record time.

While Brian did the sanding and priming, my mom and I headed to some fabric stores for the bench seats. We found what we were looking for and more (much to Brian's excitement). Today we finished painting and started rebuilding the room. We still have a couple pieces to add, but it's looking a lot better.

Check out some of our pics from the process...

Painting is almost done

The ceiling looks so much better!!

Project # 2 - The benches

My favorite part of the project, adding the fabric to the seats

A little before and after

A preview of things to come

Brian relaxing after another long weekend...with our new benches in the corner

Side view of the ceiling...the fan will be coming soon

The bench seats...can't wait to show off our other addition

Now it's time to relax and wait for the Madness to start...Rock Chalk & Go Hilltoppers!

Remodeling the Sun Room - Day 2

After some good rest, we started the fun part...hanging the dry wall. Luckily the ceiling wasn't too high, so we were all able to chip in while the guys screwed in the sheetrock.

Check out today's progress...

My dad came with a great plan to add wedges to smooth the slope a bit

Tequila did not like the air compressor and nail gun

Old drywall and Tequila hunting the rabbits

Not even an hour in and he's already trying to sleep

This is one of the most impressive parts

My dad's cut for the ceiling fan was perfect...no more stereo wire :)

Not amused...Brian kept sprinkling sheet rock on him

Last sheet of drywall up...now more screws

Drywall up and just finished the first layer of mud

We are so thankful for my parents help and now the hardest part, patience, waiting to sand and do the next layer of mud. This was a lot bigger project than we anticipated but it already looks 100% better!

Now we get a chance to rest and soak our sore muscles. Stay tuned for more updates...

Remodeling the Sun Room - Part 1

A while back, we had our first-time homebuyer lesson on why you should never take short cuts to get a job done on your home...unfortunately for us, the owners before us liked to cut a lot of corners. We found out that the ceiling in our sun room had tiles stapled to it and they all came crashing down.

For at least a year now, we have been ignoring the ceiling in the sun room, but this weekend we decided to tackle our first big project together with the help of my wonderful engineer father and my really short mother. :)

Take a look at our first remodeling project...

Tearing down the leftover porch pieces...not fun or easy, yes they even left up the porch light

Looks like we'll need to update the paint & trim after this project

Love the green duct tape work over the insulation

Tequila helping...he kept trying to eat the sheetrock and sleep on the insulation

My dad hooking up real wires for the ceiling fan...not the little stereo wire like before

They had forgotten a stud...insert Brian :)

Putting plastic up before we dry wall tomorrow...its already looking better

Admiring his labors

After an 8+ hour project, this is where Tequila finally ended up

Day 1 was exhausting and tomorrow the real fun part begins. Stay tuned for more updates...

I have the Best Husband

"Baby, you my everything, you all I ever wanted, we can do it real big, bigger than you ever done it" - Drake

After a really long week, Brian suprised me with a pair of tickets to see Drake! The people watching at the show was one of the best parts, but Drake definitely didn't disappoint.

Check it out...

Getting ready to go to the show

We had such a fun night, can't wait for our next adventure.
