Bailey Jayne - 14 Months Old

Summer is officially here and it's been a hot one so far! Luckily as Bailey turns 14 months old, we are getting a brief break in the heat and we plan to take full advantage of the beautiful weather this week. Each month with Bailey goes by faster than the one before and I can't believe she is already 14 months! This past month has been an exciting one with our first family vacation and lots of pool and outdoor play to kick off the summer.

Bailey loves to play and explore all day, especially outdoors. She loves splashing in the water, playing with her water table, climbing, sliding, playing in the grass and more. Play-Doh has become one of our favorite activities, she is very good at breaking the Play-Doh into little pieces, smashing it between her fingers and putting it back into the tub. She is very animated with her toys - loves to hug and snuggle with her favorite stuffed animals, play princesses and make them sing, growl and roar with her animal toys and race all her cars around. She has also been quite the little helper around the house, helping to pick up her toys, vacuum her play room with her own little vacuum, (un)fold the laundry with Mom and Dad and wiping up spills with paper towels. She loves animals and gets really excited whenever she sees animals on the TV, out at the park or even pictures when we're out shopping. She pants like a dog and thinks it's about the funniest thing in the world. She is very vocal and makes lots of different sounds including "SSS" like a snake, "dah" for dog, "ba" for ball along with tons of Mamas and Dadas. Bailey's shyness has started to dissipate this month and has been making friends all over - at the pool, at lunch (she loves to wave and smile at the wait staff), out shopping and when we're out with friends. She still has her clingy moments but she is getting more an more independent each day (sniff, sniff).

She's still my silly little monkey
This past month we took Grandma and Grandpa to the Berry Patch to pick Bailey's favorite fruit, blueberries. Bailey loves her Blueberries...she would eat an entire bag full if we let her but we don't want a Violet moment from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We went early in the morning on a Saturday to beat the heat and we had so much fun picking the berries and watching Bailey consume her weight in her favorite treat. We stopped by their country store on the way back and enjoyed some blueberry muffins while Bailey ran around and acted as the entertainment for the crowd. She sure loves to show off!

Didn't even get past the first bush before we had to sample

This past month we scored an awesome water table for Bailey and it has proven to be one of our favorite summer activities so far. It's perfect when Mom has to get some work done or when we need to cool off quick. Tequila loves it to because it's the perfect height for a drink and Bailey has been trying to follow in his footsteps. We'll be getting lots of great use out of it this summer!

So much fun

We love this!
Really love it!
We love making a mess!

There it is
Summer is in full force in KC already so we've had to switch up our hikes to the morning and cool off at the pool to beat the heat. So far we've hit up Black Bob Bay and Frontier pool and Bailey loves to splash and play in the water while trying to keep up with the big kids. We get really excited near the water and have to be reminded to slow down but it is so much fun to watch her learn and play.

Such a big girl
Our future's so bright we gotta wear shades. Leave it to Bailey to wait until after we got back from the beach to start her sunglasses obsession. She thinks she is quite the fashionista.

We picked these ourselves

Many days Bailey marches to the beat of her own drum. Whether it's picking out an outfit, trying out a new toy or jamming to her favorite music, we like to give her the freedom to make her own choices. She likes to test boundaries and is becoming quite the daredevil so we have to keep a watchful eye while she explores her new freedom.

So stylish

Our little sassy pants is such a great eater and loves to try new foods. She loves her veggies and is typically a neat eater, except when pasta is in the picture and we have the opportunity to make Grandma laugh. We have also decided that we need to eat with utensils like a big girl and she has done a really good job mastering the art fork to mouth.

We like pasta and pickles
Bailey and Tequila are still the best of buds. She loves to chase after her brother and show him how to play with all of her toys. He tolerates her for the most part, but sometimes when he doesn't think we're looking gives her some loving. He is fond of her messy eating habits and loves that she likes to stow away a goody or two for him.

They still nap together

Sweet lovins
Poor baby girl has been getting her canines in for awhile now and last week was brutal because she got a cold to go on top of it. More teething means more snuggles, so we had to soak them up while they lasted. Luckily she is starting to feel better, but it was a bit of a rough week.

Even Grandma got some snuggles
Hooray for my wrap

And before we go, here are a few more of our favorite pics from this past month.

We are looking forward to a fun 4th of July weekend! Hope you and your family are enjoying the summer. Until next time...

XOXO,

Sara, Brian, Bailey and Tequila
