Sienna Rose - 6 Months Old

Before we get to sweet Sienna's 1/2 Birthday I want to wish my love a Happy First Date and Engagement Anniversary. 10 years ago we went on our first official date with 20k other Billy Joel fans and shared a cab ride with our GM and his girlfriend (now wife) and 7 years ago you took me back to where it all began and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. I love you with my whole heart and am so lucky to call you mine. And Sunday we'll celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary. Each year gets better and better and there is no one else I would rather be in the trenches with. I love you my HT, PIC and TRR!

Oh sweet Sienna, how are you 6 months old already? It seems like just yesterday we brought you home and you slept like an angel and loved to lie there quietly watching everything with those big, bright curious blue eyes....and now you don't sit still, are too busy to sleep (sigh) and rival your sister's screams. But we love you so much and wouldn't have it any other way (ok, maybe the sleeping part...come back to me magical unicorn sleeping baby).

Sienna Rose - 6 Months Old
Sienna is 15 lbs 2 oz and 25-3/4"" tall. We have our big six month appointment on Monday combo'd with Bailey's 2-1/2 year appointment so needless to say I'll be a little frazzled and in need of an extra shot by noon (extra shot of coffee...not Tequila...oh how times have changed).

Sienna Rose in her favorite chair
Sienna does not sit still for more than a minute at a time so she definitely keeps us on her toes. She has mastered the art of pulling herself up and went from planking to scooting to crawling within 2 weeks of each other so you have to keep an eagle eye on her. She is such sweet and happy girl unless you try to get her to sit still, buckle her in the car seat or go to sleep, and in that case be prepared for a fight because girrrl does not like to be held back. Her smile and giggles are contagious and her sister can pull the best giggles out of her. Sienna is very curious and loves to explore new objects and toys, especially if they make funny noises. She loves to be outside, especially in this cooler weather, and explore new textures, colors and sounds. She prefers to be held if she isn't standing or crawling and luckily she loves to be wrapped up so that is the easiest way to get my snuggles in and get things done around the house. She loves splashing in the water and really thinks it's funny when sissy splashes in the bath and makes a mess all over the place.

Is there anything sweeter than baby giggles? Let's start with a few of those:

Sienna is officially on the move so look out world! In the last week or so she went from planking to scooting to crawling and hasn't sat still since! And she's added pulling herself up and standing to her repertoire so we have had to re-baby proof the house again (and again, and again and again) because her older sis loves to sprinkle her toys and mess all over the floors and couches leaving questionable items for a curious little sis to try and stick in her mouth. Plus all this new movement has left little time for sleep because she likes to practice her new skills til the wee hours of the morning (and every hour or so after that) and this Mombie (Mom+Zombie...see what I did there) tends to not have as sharp of reflexes after 2 hours or so of sleep. But the look on her face when she masters a new skill is definitely worth the price of admission and we are a little amazed at how fast she is catching up to her big sis.

She was just as surprised as I was that she could stand up

My new normal view

So proud of herself

Sienna is very expressive and she can crack me up with just a look. I could look at her face for hours...which is good because she doesn't like to sleep at night anymore. Here are some of my favorite expressions:

She likes looking at herself

This is her "ha, I ruined my outfit and you only had an extra pair of pants so I look like a genie look"

I'm pretty sure my parents have a photo just like this of me when I was little

Future's so bright

I love this photo

This little thing loves to play. She really loves getting a chance to play with sissy, but recently she has really gotten into playing on her own with her own toys. She loves play dough, jumping in her jumper, scooting after her moving toys, playing in the ball pit and she really loves Be-Bo the dancing robot.

Her bestie

Finger paints!

This is so cool!

Loving her ball pit

Just getting out all her toys

These girls are too much sometimes. They love to laugh together, hold hands and love on each other when they aren't stealing each other's toys or fighting over Mom's attention. Whenever Sienna gets really upset, Bailey always comes over to help hold her hand or stroke her head to get her to calm down and when Bailey was sick, Sienna would get close and try to make her smile and give some extra loves. We love watching them together and hope they will always remember the sweet times...even as both become the strong-willed girls I know they'll grow to be.

So much love

Bailey always wants to hold her

This would be even cuter if they were sleeping (sigh)

Sis had to get in on the fun and Sienna loved it

This just cracks me up

Sisters that laugh together

It's what every little girl dreams of...meeting the princesses of your fairy tales...and if they skate, bonus! It's been a really crazy month so we decided to take a break from the hectic and surprise the girls with tickets to Disney's Dream Big on Ice. Of course we had to dress the part...which was one of the hardest decisions we've made thus far, because which dress would we wear? The light up Cinderella dress won and since we didn't want to be too matchy-matchy, Sienna got to try out her Snow White dress. Brian braved the princesses with us and we all had a lot of fun. Watching the girl's faces light up was definitely worth the chaos.

Bailey just woke up from a nap...but Sienna was pumped

Better

So excited

She just saw Cinderella

Mesmerized

Sis really liked the fire

She had just as much fun

Excited to show off her light up dress to the downtown crowd

Whenever there is an option to bring Tequila to an event, we can't say no. So it was a no-brainer to head out to the 3rd Annual Barktoberfest! We played with friends, pet lots of dogs and other animals, tried to take a few pics, Bailey got her face painted and we enjoyed a beautiful day.

Callie, we see you trying

She thought the duck was cool

I cannot believe this girl sat still for this to happen...but when she wants something...

She really loved her work

Bubba had a good time

Hot stuff

The goat was in the chair so she didn't want him to feel lonely

Our little flower child

On fall activity we had never done before was apple picking - but last weekend we checked that off our list! We drove up to Cider Hill Orchard got on a hay ride to look at pumpkins and found some perfect apples (and a couple pears) to take home with us. Bailey loved it and she really enjoyed making the apple crisp once we got home. We'll definitely add this on our must-do list for the fall.

Everyone's looking!

Sienna was mesmerized by the tractor

We found a pear

Not the easiest way to pick

She got to pick a couple too

Sweet girls
You can't celebrate fall in KC without heading to Louisburg to visit the Cider Mill and it's one of our favorite mini destinations. It was one of Brian and my first fall dates and we keep going back for the cider slushes, donuts and the memories. We took Gigi and Pop Pop with us to Cider Fest where it was super busy but Bailey did go on a pony ride and then hit up Stone Pillar winery on our way home for some adult fun. We also took the girls on an impromptu day date to the corn maze and pumpkin patch before snagging another slush. The girls liked picking out pumpkins but we could have spent an entire day in the corn pit...they loved it!

Her new favorite activity

Checking out the vines

The steel drum player looked like our favorite neighbor, Miss Tara so we tried sneaking a pic

The corn pit was awesome!

We loved petting the foster puppies

My sweet girl
The KC Chiefs are the only undefeated team right now and the girls are having a lot of fun watching the game and cheering our boys on. Though Daddy is beginning to question Sienna's loyalty as she gets pretty excited when the Packers are on TV.

Cutest Chiefs fans I know

So important to accessorize

Talking over their game plan

Daddy's not too excited that someone loves to watch the Cheese Heads...but at least it's not the Donkeys
We're coming up to our last soccer practice and we've had a lot of fun watching Bailey out on the field...she may not have always stayed on track, but she's made it to every practice and tried every drill. She is the youngest on the field and she has almost fallen asleep on the way to practice every single time so we can't fault her. But she has had a lot of fun on the field and especially after practice when she finds the largest mud puddles to jump in. We may get some looks for letting her bathe in the mud, but kids are going to be kids...and hey, the coach thinks its great! Sienna loves going to the games to watch big sis play...plus she gets bonus time with Gigi and Pop Pop when they come to watch.

Good thing we have lots of Dawn

Gigi took one for the team

This makes me laugh because Brian was gagging because she smelled so bad

It took a  couple water bottles from the adult players and a lot of wipes to get us in the car

They're little huddle is so cute

How she always looks when she sees Gigi

And yes she still had her face paint on
Soccer may be fun, but dance has her heart right now. She loves going to her big girl dance class for an hour with just her teacher and friends and loves to come home to show us what she's learned. We are so thankful for Miss Holly and Bailey just loves her to pieces. It doesn't hurt that she gets to wear tutus to class...and we have lots to choose from! We missed class this past week because she was sick and was definitely bummed, but she's already planning her outfit for next week!

She's fancy

We found a bug...and showing off Mom's first attempt at an Elsa braid

She looks like such a kid here

She got really excited when she saw the big girls

Ending the class with a blue tongue

She even has tap shoes

So excited to have matching Elsa braids with Miss Holly!

We love Miss Holly

All the big girls are so nice

One of Bailey's new favorite hobbies is ribbon twirling. We found the perfect ribbon to twirl at a garage sale and she hasn't put it down since. So we threw on one of her favorite dresses and went up to the park to play so I could take some pics with our good camera. She loved it and we got a few fun shots.

My little twirling fairy

So proud of herself

She was showing off for the older soccer boys
Fall is meant to be spent outdoors and even though the temps haven't felt very fall-like until recently, we have tried to get out as much as we can. We still love going on nature walks when everyone is feeling good, going to the park and exploring our city together.

My favorite walking buddies

Always in the mud

She loves her Uncle Mat

Pop Pop is so funny!

Playing in their new sand box

Bubba even got to go fishing

Whether it's a tea party, a trip to mom's work or just a simple trip to the park, Bailey has an opinion on what she wears and doesn't allow a lot of wiggle room. I love that she knows what she wants, but sometimes it can be a challenge to get her out the door without several outfit changes. You never know what you're going to get, but we just go with it.

This is how she came to work with me

Her books even match! They're only 5 sizes too big

Trying to find the right hairstyle and accessories for our new wedding dress

So fly

Always a tutu

Splish splash, these girls love taking baths. And with Bailey's penchant for getting as dirty as possible combined with her being a bit under the weather this past week, we've had a lot of bath time fun. Bubbles and steam really do help you get back on your feet...but add some bath crayons and paint and all the sudden you're ready for a Thriller dance party.

Thriller hands

Mon petit artiste

When you're sick, you get popsicles in the tub

So fun to hang out with big sis

Oh Tequila...you gave us a bit of a scare the other night, but luckily all is well with our sweet Bubba and he seems to be back to his old self. The girls love him so much and he puts up with all of their extra love and attention so patiently, we are so lucky to have him in our lives. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, we definitely appreciated it.

Bsiley thought he needed a little extra

Puppy kisses

Sharing a spilled milkshake

She was upset and he came up and put his arm around her and it calmed her down

My first baby
Sleep is a rare thing in this household, at least for Mom and Dad...but every once in awhile we capture proof that our children do sleep...just long enough to take a photo. But with a teething baby and a toddler that got hit by two bugs, we have enjoyed a few extra snuggles these past few weeks.

She passed out like this

All danced out

Poor sick little bug

Poor sweet baby

This only ever happens with Dad

Only way she would calm down...I danced about 3 miles before sunrise
We may not be getting a lot of sleep right now but we are definitely blessed and we wouldn't trade it for everything. Here are a few more of our favorite moments.

I have the same look when the coffee's gone

When your jam comes on as you're walking to your car

She wanted to be like sis
